SALES MANAGER: CATERING & EXPORTS
Overall Role Purpose
Responsibility to explore, develop and manage the sustainable growth of the business in the catering channel and export markets, through knowledge-build on the channel and target markets to fulfill customer needs; and forging strong customer and stakeholder relationships for a solution-based sales strategy. Focus on profitable revenue delivery by maintaining high service levels in collaboration with the group’s supply divisions.
Required Skills for the Role:
- Responsible for business development for the Zambeef Group portfolio in the catering channel and export markets
- Developing the medium-term customer and growth strategy for the target markets.
- Customer enrolment and retention through the development and securing of strong relationships with prospective clients, focusing on solution-based selling derived from understanding channel, market, and customer needs.
- Driving profitable volume and revenue growth across the business.
- Contributing to the setting, review, and management of competitive and profitable pricing strategies relevant to target markets based on market insights in collaboration with the supply divisional and finance teams.
- Taking the lead in negotiating supply contracts in collaboration with relevant internal cross-functional teams (supply divisions, legal, finance, marketing, etc.).
- Structuring and implementing an information and performance feedback system with clients for the group to improve quality and service.
- Managing the supply chain and delivery process with the logistics team, to ensure adequate planning and execution.
- Working closely with the tax team to certify that relevant permits and procedures are in place for export orders.
- Crafting and implementing marketing plans and support where relevant with the marketing team.
- Arranging customer and market visits & participation in relevant trade exhibitions with cross-functional teams to drum up new business.
- Responsible for implementing food health, quality & safety; and safety & security policies and management systems relevant to the role and work environment in collaboration with the relevant internal teams.
Required qualification for the Role:
- Full Grade 12 certificate with 5 Credits
- BA in Business Administration/Sales/Marketing.
- 5 -10 years in a similar role with a demonstrable track record of delivery.
- Valid driver’s license and willing to travel regionally when required.
Required Attributes for the Role:
- Well-developed P&L management, budget control and analytical skills.
- Decision making and problem-solving prowess.
- Strong managerial and people leadership skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands on experience of handling export driven business/trading operations/distributors/catering channels.
- Capability to manage portfolio and SKU strategy across broad product offerings in FMCG.
- Have the supervisory and management skills to lead a business development agenda.
- Working knowledge/fluency in French/Portuguese an added advantage
- Good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal & written skills, high numeracy levels and computer skills
