Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) is a national Railway of Zambia. The Company specialises in transporting heavy cargo in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as well as running a local passenger train service. The area of product specialization is freight-bulk cargo and passenger rail services to the satisfaction of all Stakeholders. The Company therefore seeks the services of a committed , vibrant, innovative, and strategically focused and business oriented Zambian national to fill the vacant positions below of:

POSITION: RISK MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To co-ordinate and oversee all risk management activities of the organisction and ensuring compliance with internal policies, relevant contracts/agreements and all legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with an internal compliance plan.

GRADE AND REPORTING LINE

This is a Senior Management position in Salary Grade RM 3 in the structure of the Company reporting administratively on a day-to-day basis directly to the Managing Director and functioncliy accountable to the Chairperson of the Risk and Audit Committee of the Zambia Railways Limited Board.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk Management:

  • Undertaking the business risk cnaiysis and documenting the results
  • Deveioping, maintain and reviewing the Risk Register
  • Performing the controls assessment
  • Undertaking risk management projects, as required
  • Developing and reviewing relevant risk management documents
  • Communicating and promoting required risk management activities and initiatives to the Risk on a Audit Committee, Internal and External Auditors and Management

(ii) Compliance Management:

  • Developing and reviewing the Board – approved Compliance Policy
  • Developing, maintain and reviewing the Compliance Plan
  • Performing compliance reviews as required under the Compliance Plan and reporting upon the results of these reviews fo Risk and Audit Committee and Management
  • Investigating and reporting on compliance breaches, and identifying and documenting agreed-upon remedial actions
  • Undertaking risk management projects, as required
  • Developing and reviewing reievant risk management docurnents
  • Communicating and promoting required risk management activities and initiatives to the Risk and Audit Cornmittee, Internal and External Auditors and Management

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Full Grade 12 with five (5) “02 Levels with credit or better in Mathematics and English Language
  • Bachelors’ Degree Finance, Engineering, Legal Commerce, Economics, Risk or equivalent
  • Risk Management Qualification
  • At least five (S) years of relevant experience in c senior position in risk and compliance environment
  • Membership with relevant professional body
  • Institute of Risk Management Zambia (IRMZ) membership shall be on added advantage

  • Reportwriting deo ing with detai\ed, complex and technical concepts
  • Excelent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
  • Interpretation of legisiative and professional standards
