Job Description


The incumbent is responsible for managing the daily operations of multiple research projects ensuring that all aspects of project protocol are adhered to. Applies specialized knowledge to initiate, design, develop, coordinate, and manage research projects across multiple sites. Develops collaborations and partnerships with research user groups.

Main duties

  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of multiple research projects across multiple sites including hiring, orienting, training, and supervising contractual and casual employees
  • Troubleshoots problems at all stages of project development and implementation and assist with modifying protocols or project procedures to address challenges.
  • Participates with a team in the development and authoring of research protocols.
  • Leads the submission process for ethical protocols and related approvals
  • Monitors and orients all Research Assistants and Enumerators employed under the project.
  • Facilitates community mobilisation for all community activities including community awareness meetings
  • Participates in data collection as needed
  • Coordinates and manages the collection, delivery, entry, verification, analysis, and reporting of data.
  • Oversee the design of databases, data collection forms, error checking methods, and related programs for collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensures data management procedures (naming, filing, storage e.t.c) are strictly adhered to as stipulated in the standard operating procedures.
  • Performs both quantitative and qualitative analyses of research data.
  • Apply specialized knowledge and scientific principles to review, critically appraise and interpret published literature. Write sections of scientific papers, funding proposals, and abstracts.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or in a related field
  • 5 years minimum relevant work experience
  • Strong research experience in both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Monitoring and Evaluation skills
  • Scientific and report writing skills
