Brief introduction

Zambia-China Economic & Trade Cooperation Zone Development Limited (ZCCZ) is the 1st declared MFEZ in Zambia by the Zambian government. We are working to develop two Multi-Functional Economic Zones in both Chambishi and Lusaka through the construction of infrastructure and the attraction of Foreign Direct investment.

We are looking for a qualified Registered Nurse / Midwife to work in the health sector of our Mfez

Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective written and oral handover procedures of patients to other clinicians and during shift change.
  • Maintain routine patient observations/checks, as ordered by the medical doctor or unit leader.
  • Develop a nursing diagnosis following a health history or physical examination. Document findings and inform the attending doctor.
  • Create nursing care plans to assess patient care needs and continued progress based on nursing diagnosis and within the scope of practice.
  • Participate in the morning ward rounds or weekly grand rounds.
  • Assist the medical doctors during clinical procedures, as requested.
  • Escalate any change in patient health status, especially mental status, abnormal test results, deterioration in patient health or abnormal diagnostic results, to medical doctors and appropriate clinicians.
  • Perform physical examinations like blood pressure, pulse, temperature, blood smear testing, weight checks and health histories for all new patients.
  • Check and administer medications and injections, and observe for any adverse reactions or side effects. Document all findings and notify the medical doctor as required. Proper medication checks are always performed (right patient, right dose, right time, right route, expiry date, allergies, right medication and right documentation etc.) before administration.
  • Review medication history and current orders. Ensure any change in medication is properly recorded in the patient’s medication chart and inform the pharmacy accordingly.
  • Check the medication stock regularly to maintain correct inventory levels, and place orders when required.
  • Check medical/clinical equipment as instructed and present documented reports to the Unit Leader where equipment needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies. Involve the medical doctor or doctor-on-call immediately if there are any urgent or emergency patient cases
  • To provide care and guidance to mothers prenatally, antenatal, and postnatally.
  • To provide intrapartum and post-delivery care of mothers and babies, by providing emotional, psychological, and physical support during these times.
  • Conduct Mother and Child Clinics, Reproductive Health Clinics and Under 5 monitoring.
  • Identification of High-Risk Pregnancies, with timely referral to Obstetricians.
  • Provision of sound advice to patients regarding diets, exercises, and medications suitable for pregnancy, while also conducting pregnancy-related exercises.
  • Taking and recording patients’ vitals, ordering, and conducting diagnostic and bedside tests.
  • Proper record keeping and conducting monthly reporting to the clinic in charge.

Qualifications

  • Form 5 or Grade 12 certificate with 5 credits or better which should include English Language.
  • Must be a qualified ZRN/ZRM from a recognized institution
  • Registered with the General Nursing Council
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 6 years of proven work experience in a similar role
  • Age 30 to 45 years old
