Job Description
Positions: Provincial Coordinator (1 vacancy)
Department: Rehabilitation and Research
Work station : Western Province
Reports to: Director Rehabilitation and Research
Duration of work: Permanent and Pensionable
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES /RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan, promote and administer services for Persons with Disabilities in the Province
2. Register Persons with Disabilities in the Province
3. Forward to Headquarters Organizations’ applications offering services to Persons with Disabilities wishing to be registered by the Agency
4. Conduct inquiries into any matter relating to the welfare, employment, habilitation and rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities
5. Monitor the provision of services to Persons with Disabilities and the implementation of the Disability Act and any policies or national strategies on disability
6. Make representations on behalf of any Person with Disability before any State organ or institution and facilitate for the provision of legal assistance if the matter relates to the rights of, or the interaction of, Persons with Disabilities
7. Promote public awareness in all aspects of disability
8. Coordinate with Government Institutions on mainstreaming issues of Persons with Disabilities
9. Facilitate the submission of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) CVs to IT Officer for inclusion on the data base
10. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
11. Co-ordinate rehabilitation and resettlement of Persons with Disabilities
12. Conduct inspection of institutions and ensure that adequate arrangements for the general welfare, education, training, rehabilitation, health, or employment are offered to Persons with Disabilities, and that records are kept
13. Ensure service providers put in place necessary facilities that make such services available and accessible to Persons with Disabilities in the prescribed manner
14. Collect statistical data from relevant institutions relating to disability issues for purposes of planning, promotion, administration, monitoring and evaluation of services for Persons with Disabilities as may be advised by SRO
15. Facilitate the preparation and coordination of commemoration of disability calendar days
16. Supervision of staff at Provincial level and District level.
17. Maintain employee files as well as provincial establishment register of all employees in the province
18. Facilitate and manage the inventory of all Agency assets in the province by maintaining an updated asset register
19. Facilitate the procurement of title deeds for all the Agency’s land and buildings in your province
20. Maintain and file all books of accounts
21. Carry out any other duties that may be assigned to you by superiors from time to time
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
1. Grade 12 or GCE certificate
2. Degree in Social work or any other related Social Sciences
3. 2 years’ work experience
4. Experience in counselling will be an added advantage
OTHER ATTRIBUTES
1. Excellent knowledge and sensitivity to issues of Persons with Disabilities
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
3. Strong written skills in project proposal
4. Provide psychosocial counselling to Persons with Disabilities
5. Ability to work in stressful environment
