Context
This is a unique opportunity to work with an innovative and ambitious organization which plans to sell solar lights at scale across Zambia, bringing electricity through solar to rural households and reducing reliance on candles and fuels such as kerosene.
About SunnyMoney
SunnyMoney is a social enterprise, wholly owned by SolarAid, an innovative, fast-growing organization working in Malawi and Zambia which focuses on business based solutions to poverty. Our goal is to eradicate the kerosene lamp in Africa by the end of the decade. For all countries this means a substantial scaling up of operations. We believe our goal is achievable by creating a genuine solar lighting market by ensuring anyone can gain access to clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy.
Position
We are looking for an energetic, quick thinking and enthusiastic Programme Manager with the ability to manage different programmes and grants. The successful applicant will be interested in learning about solar energy and the SunnyMoney operations. They will be creative, adaptive and able to work independently as well as manage a field team.
Skills and Qualifications
University degree in Project Management and/or extensive experience of working as a Project Manager, particularly in the field of solar or renewable energy – Must be clearly demonstrated in the CV
3 to 4 years of professional experience in Project Management
History of Fundraising or the ability to learn
Used to working in a small organisation
Excellent written and spoken English
Organized, hardworking and flexible
Experience in Report writing, presentation, managing communications with people from different educational, economic and cultural backgrounds
Effective time management and planning
Good IT skills (Excel and Word)
Work experience in sales or customer service and project delivery.
Passion and enthusiasm for SunnyMoney’s social goal and the work it does
Has worked with a budget and can implement and follow a work plan
Experience working in a rural setting
Driver’s license
Job Description:
Project Management
Manage budget and all costs related to the project
Overall project management of all SolarAid Projects and programmes
Responsible for all money spent and money collected
Ensure that the key milestones are met in a timely manner.
Learn other projects with in SolarAid and assist with documents and programme information for the London team
Work with local and London based fund raising in order to help secure funding as needed
Work with the agent and schools’ team to enhance their programme.
Overseeing Repair Shop/Technician. Ensuring he is being efficient and sending through weekly work plans.
Help with finding and writing fundraising proposals as needed
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
Attend sector/ industry and partnership meetings when available
Communicate to SunnyMoney partners as and when required.
Planning and setting up stakeholder/ partnerships meetings as and when required.
Sales and Marketing
Ensure that all field work, meetings and trainings are scheduled in a timely manner
Travel to field work periodically throughout the project. (approx. 10%)
Setting up meetings with potential new partners and finding new strategic partners.
Ensure we are keeping relationships open with existing partners
Find new Strategic Partners and NGO’s to keep this route to market viable
Logistics
Plan schedules and have them approved in a timely manner, this includes trips, trainings, meetings, etc
Line manager for the drivers/asst. Ensure the drivers adhere to policies and job descriptions.
Admin
Ensure all paperwork completed by Repair teams is done properly and sent in on time.
Ensure that all required reports are done by deadlines
Work with SA fundraising team in London on reports to the funder during and at the end of the grant period.
Work with Finance Manger to report on spend on a periodic basis and at the end of the grant period.
Write monthly/quarterly reports to the Country Manager on lessons learned, what is working well, what can be done better, etc
Perform any other related duty as required
