Job Description
PRODUCTION MANAGER
Pedrew Investments Limited (PIL) is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Production Manager that understands the dynamic pace of a small fast-growing food brand and is energized by the opportunity to grow with Pedrew Investments Limited.
S/he will oversee the production process and coordinate all activities to ensure enough resources are on hand. The position also entails formulating a plan for monthly production output, worker’s schedule, estimate costs and prepare budgets to ensure workflow meets required deadlines. S/he will represent the company in a professional and cost-effective manner to increase our profitability and customer satisfaction. In additional, the role requires someone who is highly alert with issues regarding health and safety requirements at a farm.
Responsibilities
- Must have hands on experience in the following meat processing activities;
- Meat cutting
- Meat deboning
- Meat inspection
- Packaging
- Processing meat into other products such as fresh sausages, cooked sausages, polony, Vienna, and ham.
- Smoking, curing, and marinating the meat.
- Responsible for selecting, forecasting, and ordering raw materials inventory and maintaining records of inventory.
- In charge of recording all inventory movements in the system.
- Track all sales reports and order products to meet customer requirements and increase profits.
- Minimize stock outs and excess stocks to ensure fresh merchandise.
- Control production expenses by ensuring operations meet budget goals and control shrinkage and pilferage.
- Manage goal setting and goal measurement by developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPI).
- Oversee the implementation of new production processes that deliver new products, increase efficiency and higher quality output.
- Must ensure competent production personnel are recruited.
- Provide daily planning and organizing production schedules.
- Oversee daily operations of production personnel, review performance and set yearly goals and objectives.
- Create a motivating work environment for production employees.
- Responsible for the safety, health, and environment of all manufacturing employees as well as the strict enforcement of all applicable regulations and rules.
- Oversee production processes with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Ensure on-time and accurate production of a released product for all required volumes while looking to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. ·
- Conduct trainings with workers as necessary.
- Maintain quality and safety standards and implement plans to correct issues when identified.
- Organize the routine inspection, maintenance of production equipment. Handle emergency repairs.
Requirements and skills
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- Minimum Diploma in food production or any related course
- Minimum relevant experience-3 years
- Computer literate, conversant with Microsoft excel and word.
- Proficient in English language and Nyanja.
- Good communication skills (written and oral).
