Job Description
COMPANY: MIKA MEATS LIMITED
JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION CLERK
JOB PURPOSE
A production Clerk will be responsible for overseeing the entire production process of meats and meat products at the Mika Meats Processing Plant. His/her duties will include cutting, measuring, and packaging fresh meat for customers as well as carrying out inspections at all production stages so as to ensure that standard procedures are being followed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintaining a record of inventory levels and ordering new materials when necessary to ensure that the stores have sufficient quantities of products available for production
- Organizing and scheduling work assignments to ensure that works are completed on time
- Conducting audits of store inventory to ensure that it is being stored properly and in accordance with prescribed standards
- Processing purchase orders, invoices, and payments for goods or services received from suppliers, vendors, banks, or other creditors
- Inputting data into computers to track inventory levels and customer orders.
- Receiving and storing incoming merchandise deliveries and supplies, often in large warehouses or storage facilities
- Preparing reports on sales trends and customer behavior to help determine how to best meet customers’ needs
- Receiving deliveries of meat products from suppliers and storing them in a safe manner until they can be processed or shipped out to customers
- Carving meats, such as slicing steaks from a primal cut of beef or de-boning chicken
- Packaging meats according to customer instructions such as wrapping cuts of meat in plastic wrap and sealing them in plastic bags
- Marking prices on cut meats, fish, and other food items based on weight or volume measurements provided by the Metrologist
- Preparing meat orders for shipping, packaging them in boxes or bags, and labeling them with information such as the type of meat, cut, weight, price per Kilogram, date of purchase, and expiration date if applicable
- Prepare and inspect production rooms for cleanliness to meet prescribed standards.
- Trim and slice beef and pork product using butcher knives and commercial meat slicers.
- Ensure all areas are maintained and in a sanitary condition to eliminate potential food borne diseases as per Public Health provisions.
- May be required to undertake any other reasonable tasks within the production facility as instructed by superiors.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Proven working experience as a Production Clerk for at least 2 years
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Knowledge of Public Health stipulations in relation to Meat production and processing
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
- Minimum of a Diploma in Accountancy, Production, Public Health or any other related field. A degree will be an added advantage
