JOB OPPORTUNITY
Mabiza Resources Limited (“Mabiza”) operates the Munali Nickel Mine (“Munali”), which is located in Mazabuka District, 75kms south of Lusaka, Zambia. Mabiza is a wholly owned entity of Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd.
The Mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations. To support this vision, Mabiza Resources Limited is seeking the services of an experienced and qualified individual to take up the position of:
1.0 PROCESS PLANT MANAGER – 1 POSITION – REPORTING TO THE GENERAL MANAGER
1.1 Job Purpose
This position is responsible for the optimum production and quality of Nickel ore Concentrates in the most economical and technically efficient manner. Manage resources i.e., people and assets cost-effectively and safely by providing both technical expertise and the motivational skills to encourage a productive workforce, good processing, and metallurgical obligations. Comply with the government statutory regulatory legal requirements in the operations of the plant.
1.2 Key Responsibilities
- Enforcing high safety and health standards in the Metallurgical Plants so that no accidents occur to any manpower and no damage to any equipment for continual smooth operations and Managing Environmental obligations.
- Managing the overall design of process flow sheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, manpower requirements, equipment procurement and material utilization.
- Developing and managing metallurgical operations and work practices that maximize operational efficiencies.
- Evaluating current and potential processing methods.
- Monitoring and analysing key metallurgical performance indicators of process operations and recommending corrective actions to the operations team.
- Manage the production of the final concentrate in alignment with the contractual requirements of the off-taker agreement.
- Manage metallurgical and chemical engineering activities working with the operations team and external consultants.
- Monitoring and overseeing that all Metallurgical Plants’ production tonnes and grades of ore plans are done through the metallurgical Recovery team.
- Reviewing and suggesting improvements to all aspects of metallurgy and processing, including technologies and methods used, to ensure the optimization of the department.
- Ensure the management of the Laboratory is efficient and reliable to ensure an effective
response to process and final product management. - Directing and ensuring that training and succession of subordinate staff at all levels to enhance efficiency and meet future manpower requirements for production.
- Providing leadership and guidance to the processing and metallurgy teams ensuring that training and mentoring are given where needed, to achieve effective staff development.
- Budgeting, cost control, and project scheduling/forecasting and ensuring that Plant Operations and Capital Projects are carried out within budgets.
- Ensuring the Plants Equipment is well secure and available for production.
- Alerting and engaging employees in the need for specific transformational changes in the way things are done in the Department.
- Management of all agreed plans, weekly, monthly, quarterly annually, and compilation of required budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
- Work within cross-functional teams and coach, mentor supervise, and lead direct reports.
- Ensure compliance with Government Statutory regulations in all Sections.

1.4 Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate
• - Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry Degree
- Ten (10) Years’ Experience and at least Five (05) Years in Production and the rest in the Technical Department, plus 3 years of exposure at the management level.
- Strong computer skills (i.e., MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
