Job Description
RECRUITMENT OF 12 PARALEGAL OFFICERS
PFF is a non-governmental organization duly registered in the Republic of Zambia under the NGO Act of 2009. The organization was formed to look into the welfare of serving and former inmate, including citizens who come in contact with the justice system. Its objective is to respond to the rights of serving, ex- inmates and indigents in Zambian societies.
PFF is implementing a change project under the Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation and Transparency (EnACT) with support from Federal Government of the Republic of Germany through GIZ. The aim of the change project is to increase and improve access to legal aid especially for vulnerable groups including women, Juveniles and people with disabilities at Ndola Remand (with extension to Kansenshi Correctional Facility) Kamfinsa and Chingola Correctional Facilities as well as Legal Services Unity at Chingola Subordinate Court and Wusakile Police Station in Kitwe, by 2025.
In January 2023, PFF will be expanding its services provided under the change project through establishing one (1) Police paralegal Desk at Chililabombwe Police Station, one (1) Police Paralegal Desk at Chipulukusu Police Station in Ndola District, One (1) Police Desk at Kapiri Police Station, One (1) Paralegal Desk at Mkushi Correctional Facility, One (1) Paralegal Desk at Medium Correctional Facility in Kabwe District and a Legal Services Unit at Serenje Subordinate Court. To this end, PFF is looking for Twelve (12) Paralegal Officers to be stationed in the new Districts/sites.
Qualifications and Experience
Grade Twelve certificate
Certificate in Paralegal studies (level 2 or 1 of the TEVETA approved paralegal training scheme)
. Candidates pursuing level 2 or 1 of the TEVETA approved paralegal training scheme
Diploma or Degree in Law
Significant knowledge of the criminal justice system including, laws and procedures acquired through training in paralegalism or other qualification in law
Experience in providing legal aid services especially within the criminal justice system
Demonstrated sense of integrity, strict adherence to ethics and professionalism in all circumstances
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES RESIDENT IN DISTRICTS APPLIED FOR.
