1. IT OFFICER (X1) – LUSAKA

2. Reporting to: IT Manager

Job Purpose:
The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that proper and efficient support, monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks of an organisation and provide technical support to its users. As IT Officer, you will also be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex server systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for following types of IT support:

  • computer networks – installing, configuring and maintaining computers in the organisation
  • desktop support – providing direct user assistance
  • hardware maintenance – to maintain and repair computer hardware
  • software applications – working on software application/s for a specific business sector, such a Mining, Energy & Infrastructure.
  • managed hosting – ensuring company’s websites and applications stay up and running and offering technical support.
    In general, the candidate will be responsible for all but not limited to tasks as following:
  • Keep computer systems running smoothly and ensure users get the maximum benefit from them.
  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
  • Provide support in a face-to-face capacity, over the phone or via remote desktop software, helping staff or clients set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults replace parts as required.
  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system support the roll-out of new applications.
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable server systems
  • Monitor server performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Manage backup and recovery of server data.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for server systems and processes.
  • Install, program and maintain EPABX analog and IP intercom systems.
  • CCTV programming and maintenance & respond within agreed time limits to call-outs.
  • Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate) prioritise and manage many open cases at one time.
  • Rapidly establish a good working relationship with team members and top management, test and evaluate new technology.
  • conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of server systems with other systems and applications.

Qualification and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Support & Server Maintenance
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux/Unix-based server systems
  • Experience with latest technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Must be age between 28-40 years old.
