Job Summary

Metallurgical Research Technicians carry out research at lab scale prior to implementing on the plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct tests on mineral processing and hydrometallurgy.
• Develop and modify test procedures and possess knowledge on the equipment to be used for a particular test work.
• Investigating production challenges and improving recovery.
• Analyze data, and prepare reports.
• Preparing the daily feed plan for the plant.
• Planning and carrying out test-works on how to improve the plant recovery.
• Compiling the weekly report as well as plant daily reports.
• Supervising cobalt plant operations and making sure the minimum grade of Co-produced is 10gpl with minimum concentrations of Fe and Cu.
• Compiling process inventory report and any other metallurgical accounting duties.
• Keeping record of current reagent stocks and the indicating when restocking is needed.

Key Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering

Skills and Competencies

• Must be willing to participate in a wide variety of laboratory work.
• Must be able to learn the correct techniques for handling and caring for equipment and reagents.
• Must be able to communicate well, both orally and in writing, gather and interpret data, keep meticulous records, and present facts graphically.
