MECHANICAL WORKSHOP FOREMAN – ZAMHATCH IN MPONGWE (1)
The Required Skills for this Role Include:
Managing the overall function of the mechanical workshop.
Managing and planning preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance on all Company vehicles.
Diagnosing, adjusting, repairing overhaul vehicles, maintaining and repairing any type of engines.
Inspecting and verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specification.
Monitoring progress and inspecting completed work to ensure the required standards are achieved by the mechanics.
Undertaking unplanned work resulting from breakdown and emergencies, which is to be dealt with in an efficient manner (24 hours call out).
Ensuring all log books, requisition books and departmental records are effectively maintained to enable stock control, ordering of parts and all other workshop functions operate efficiently.
Determining vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Producing weekly, monthly and annual statistics reports.
Examining vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
Testing vehicles and testing components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges and computerized diagnostic devices.
The Required Qualifications are:
Grade 12 School certificate or equivalent with at least 5 credits.
Must have a minimum qualification of Heavy Equipment Repair Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair.
Certification from a vocation school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus.
Must be computer literate.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering.
Must have valid driver’ license.
The Required Attributes Include:
Very good communication skills.
A problem-solving ability.
Excellent knowledge in repairing DAF trucks.
Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
