Nanga Farms Ltd. is a large irrigated Sugarcane Estate situated near Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The Company is part of the Illovo Sugar Africa Group and its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of Sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of Cattle. The Company now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of:-
MECHANICAL WORKSHOP FOREMAN
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the purpose of the job is to maintain of all heavy plant equipment, LDVS, motorbike, small engines, trailers and implements, supervision of all mechanical related works in works in the workshop and quality control.
Key Performance areas
- Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules are prepared and submitted to the Engineering Manager
- Supervise, Co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers in the workshop
- Ensures that the planned and scheduled work is carried out as planned.
- Ensures that the staff is fully detailed on the requirements to adhere to work schedules.
- Prepares Mechanical Availability Reports by:
- Ensures that the daily availability reports are prepared and submitted to the Engineering Manager.
- Ensures that the maintenance reports are prepared and submitted to the Engineering Manager on daily basis.
- Ensures that the artisan time utilisation sheets reports are completed by all artisans under their responsibility.
- Ensures that the weekly machinery and equipment breakdown sheet is prepared and submitted to the Engineering Manager.
- Ensures the Repair and Maintenance of Equipment by
- Assigning jobs to artisans through job cards.
- Assessing and estimating the required time for each task before assigning task to artisan.
- Ensuring that the tasks are carried out as per estimated times on job card.
- Formulates and Controls Service and Parts Schedules by:
- Forecasting service parts requirements for the fleet.
- Analysing equipment utilization in hours or kilometres.
- Setting correct service intervals for all plant and equipment.
- Ensures that ALL tasks are carried out in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Advanced Craft Certificate in Automotive or Vehicle maintenance and Heavy plant equipment.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role, preferably on an agricultural operation will be an added advantage.
- Good technical, organisation and personal and computer skills,
- Must be a registered Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
