Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The candidate is an engineering specialist responsible for putting together machine parts, installing, maintaining and repairing plants and equipment. Your work involves assembling parts made from metals or other materials to create production equipment and machinery.
Responsibilities for mechanical fitter
- Efficient disassembly/reassembly in line with productivity improvements and capacity planning (achieve the required efficiency and utilization standards for production – performance/assembly to build times)
- Must have full understanding of equipment functionality such as bone saw, meat grinder, multi-function frozen, bowl cutter etc
- Diagnosis of all machinery for possible flaws and intervene with repair and maintenance to prevent any breakdown
- Support, lead, train and mentor others (including apprentices)
- Participation and involvement with Company Quality Procedure and Standards, ensuring timely identification, communication and recording of all quality issue
- Responsible for undertaking maintenance, repairs, minor improvement and extra works across the Plant and all Mika Meats Outlet machinery.
- Work on own and as part of a team carrying out routine PPM, reactive and minor repair works as assigned by the workflow team ensuring all deliverable KPI targets are met or exceeded.
- Communicate with the Engineering Departments when support is required to ensure all tasks can be achieved within prescribed requirements Identify extra work requirements and provide details of required material and labour estimate to enable client quotes to be issued
- Participate in any CIP (Continuous Improvement) activities, including workshops and discussion groups relating to quality, cost and delivery performance
- Refurbishment of Filling, screw capping & other equipment / system
- Root Cause Analysis any form of failure or quality issues with the machines
- May be required to performance other, but similar maintenance duties as requested by superiors.
Qualifications and competencies required
- Must be holder of a full grade 12 certificate
- Holder of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication & Welding, Maintenance Technology, and or any equivalent qualification.
- Must have traceable work experience of not less than 3 years in a factory setting
- Certification with Engineering Association of Zambia and any other relevant institutions.
- Comply to safety standards/codes and ensure world class housekeeping
- Identify all unsafe conditions and notify management
- Planning, organizing and co-ordination skills
- Be a team player, motivated self-starter and willing to learn
- Able to make proper business decisions
