Heartlands Best Zambia is a local Agro-production company based in Livingstone Simoonga. We are producers of day-old chicks, poultry feeds, frozen chicken, table eggs, dairy products and horticultural products.

We are looking for result driven and hands on MECHANICAL FITTER responsible for maintaining Plant machinery for the company in line with established standard maintenance routines and procedures, OEM recommendations and industry best practices.

This position reports to Site Electrical Instrumentation Engineer

The successful candidate will be Responsible for the following:

Ø Carrying out daily inspections of the Stock Feed plant, Oil Plant and Abattoir in order to ascertain if all machines and equipment are functioning as per normal

Ø Repairing work involving stripping, checking, removing / replacing worn out parts, filters, tightening loose belts and nuts and checking general mechanical conditions of same in order to ensure continuous operations and achieve production targets.

Ø Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained, working on a range of plant machinery including some hydraulic & pneumatics systems.

Ø Prepares lists of spares / materials required and submits the same to superior and completes Job Cards reports on all work carried out highlighting work done.

Ø Adheres to planned maintenance schedules by carrying out servicing/ maintenance work, involving the changing of oil’s, filters, worn out parts, greasing/ lubricating and checking mechanical condition of same in order to prevent excessive wear and tear and enhance prolonged life

Ø Ensure high quality preventative, corrective and routine maintenance activities in a safe, health, and incident free manner

Ø Will be responsible for maintaining the quality and feed safety management system

The Required Qualifications are:

Grade 12 certificate

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

7-10 years’ work experience hands on / Experience in feed mill plant, Oil Plant and Abattoir added advantage

The Required Attributes Include:

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to analyse and diagnose defects on plant / machinery / equipment and effect corrective measures
• Welding Knowledge a must/requirement
• Knowledge of Boiler operations a must/requirement
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic Electrical knowledge is a must
• Ability to work at heights, hot areas and confined space
• Physically fit and able to work over time
• Experience in stock feed industry is a must
