The Health Professions Council of Zambia is a statutory regulatory body under the Ministry of Health with both statutory obligations to regulate the registration of health care facilities and health practitioners as well as maintaining optimal standards of competence, care and professional conduct. It was established under the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009, The Health Professions Act continues the existence of the Medical Council of Zambia which was established under the repealed Medical and Allied Professions Act. The mission of the Health Professions Council of Zambia is ‘to safeguard the quality of health care services by regulating and monitoring the professional conduct of Public and Private Health practitioners, Health facilities and Training Institutions.

LEGAL OFFICER

Job Profile: To undertake effectively the provision of legal service in order to safeguard the interests of the Institution and ensure operations are within provisions of the Law.

Main duties:

• Undertakes the provision of legal advice to the Institution in order to ensure operations are within the provisions of the Law.
• Represents the Council in matters before the Courts of Law.
• Undertakes effectively the prosecution of cases in order to promote compliance to the Health Professions Act.
• Undertakes effectively the drafting of legal documents in order to facilitate and strengthen collaborations with other institutions and jurisdictions.
• Undertakes effectively investigation of complaints in order to establish validity of allegations
