JOB ADVERT – LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Aller Aqua Zambia Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Laboratory Technician. The role reports to the Laboratory & Quality Supervisor and will be based in Siavonga.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for monitoring and logging of feed quality parameters as well as communicating the trends to the Production department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyzing of proximate composition of raw materials and feed.
• Following Standard Operating Procedures of Quality Assurance Department.
• Assisting Quality Team in gathering quality related data.
• Analysing of physical characteristics of feed.
• Communicating laboratory results, both in written form using Excel and the Internal Quality Management System and verbally to his/her superiors and other stakeholders.
• Timely communication of consumables stock status to the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Ensuring proper storage of feed samples.
• Ensuring maintenance and proper use of laboratory equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE).
• Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Food Science, Biochemistry, Agriculture (specialised in Animal/fish nutrition) or a related field.
• At least two years’ work experience in the laboratory – Agriculture/Aquaculture Industry experience will be an added advantage.
• Ability to Interact with colleagues and management with tact and diplomacy.
• Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to analyse samples with a high degree of repeatability.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.
