Job Description
Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) operates an underground copper mine located in Chililabombwe District in the Copperbelt Province of the Republic of Zambia. The company also has a mineral processing plant with a capacity to process up to 2.5 Mt per annum of copper ore and produces a high – grade copper concentrate.

LCML seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:
LABORATORY ANALYST (x1)
This position reports to the Senior Chemist.
Core Purpose of the Position
Conduct chemical analysis of various substances associated with copper processing, ensuring compliance with mine operation standards and regulations.
Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to in the laboratory.
- Determination of copper and acid soluble copper in the hourly or two hourly Concentrator samples using AAS/XRF technique.
- Perform a wide range of chemical analysis using various laboratory techniques like AAS, XRF, electrogravimetry etc.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Accurately record and interpret analytical data ensuring the quality, precision and validity of results.
- Utilize software tool for data analysis and generate reports-LIMS.
- Analysis of Geological Samples by AAS and XRF.
- Analysis of metal accounting samples by either Titration or Electrogravimetry.
- Analysis of concentrate shipment samples by Titration.
- Elemental Analysis.
- Water Sample Analysis.
- Daily Updating of LIMS and QAQC Data collection.
- Receive assignments in form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals.
- Report instrument breakdowns and reagents availability status to laboratory supervisor or senior chemist for actioning.
- Perform any other work assigned by superiors.
Academic Qualifications and Experience:
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Minimum of certificate in laboratory science or equivalent.
- 3 years practicing experience in a mine-based laboratory.
- Computer literate.
- Proficient in use of AAS, XRF, SI, Titration and Electrogravimetry methods.
