Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
Responsible for the safe and efficient provision of accurate and timely surveying field work and office duties as assigned by superiors on the Trident Mining and Exploration leases.
Specific Job Responsibility
- Conduct daily routine Survey measurements in a safe and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance of established procedures and guidelines in survey activities.
- Carry out all monthly survey measurements in a safe and timely manner.
- Establishment and monitoring of Primary and secondary controls within the Mining Lease, this includes levelling of these controls with an automatic level.
- Responsible for charging and cleaning of all survey equipment inclusive of field vehicles.
- Responsible for cleaning of survey storeroom.
- Responsible for daily ore-face updates and process and circulate the data to the entire technical team that uses this information.
- Set out of all Mine Design and Geological requirements, this includes preparation of set out plans for all designated personnel to utilize.
- Carry out Stockpile surveys on a regular basis and evaluate volumes.
- Carry out all Drill and Blast survey requests and work closely with the drilling and planning personnel.
- Sets up semi and permanent GCPs before flying for the purpose of geo-referencing all drone captured data.
- Daily interaction with Survey Senior Surveyor on and as required basis.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Specific Competencies
- Minimum knowledge in large multi open pit operations utilizing GPS equipment, Laser Scanners, Drones, Total stations and associated Surveying software like Surpac, Maptek PointStudio, Pix4Dmapper or GIS software.
- Ability to interpret and implement mine plans and effectively achieves targets and goals.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with the other Mining sections (Operations, Technical, Mine Geology and Mining Maintenance) personnel.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills in English language.

Experience required to perform in this job
- Experience not required but an added advantage – new entrants from university with qualification in Geomatics/Surveying qualification from a recognized institution are acceptable.
Qualifications
- A Degree or Diploma in Geomatics/Surveying qualification from a recognized institution.
- SADC Class B manual driver’s license.
