Position Title: ICT Coordinator
Reporting to: Human Resource and Administration Manager
Duty Station: National Office – Lusaka

SOS Children’s Villages Zambia is a child focussed organization and an affiliate of the SOS Children Villages International. It is non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational, and non-racial. Its overall mission is to build families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities. To realise the mission of the organisation, SOS Children’s Villages Zambia is recruiting for an ICT Coordinator.

1. Position

ICT Coordinator– National Office Lusaka (1)

Role objective

Responsible for all aspects of systems administration for the National Association; includes implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of system procedures within National Association.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Providing or organising adequate first level hardware and software support for local IT users
  • Ensuring the efficient and reliable use of appropriate IT infrastructure, inclusive controlling all external IT specialists
  • Performing or assisting in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing of IT systems
  • Ensuring that IT topics are reflected in the general national plan and the national budget
  • Providing email and internet administration and support to all the facilities
  • Providing consultation and expert advice to the National Association’s Management Team to facilitate national planning and budgeting
  • Promoting the development of IT topics in the national association
  • Making recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase
  • Performing on-site and remote technical support.
  • Installing and maintaining network servers, operating systems, and other network equipment.
  • Staying informed about new technologies
  • Perform other duties as may be directed by supervisor

Qualifications and experience

  • Full Grade 12 certificate with at least 5 credits
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Certified Professional Programs, Cisco Certified Network Administration or any other approved information technology certifications are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the planning, implementation, support and development of IT projects
  • Experience in the use and administration of Microsoft’s Software Systems; these include Office, Windows Client and Server Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of standard programs and tools like Internet Explorer, WinZip, Acrobat Reader, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge in the implementation, management and maintenance of systems in a server environment
  • Experience in data administration
  • Good Knowledge in the setup and configuration of Local Area Networks and Internet Connectivity
  • Understanding of how databases work from an end-user perspective, e.g. ability to create or modify simple reports.
  • Strong basic software, operating system and network knowledge in order to carry out assigned administrative tasks

  • Concepts and administration of computer and network operating systems and applications.
  • Network protocols including TCP/IP and bridging
