ABOUT THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION
The Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) is a National Human Rights Institution established under Article 230 of the 1991 Constitution of Zambia. The Commission has the constitutional mandate to uphold and protect the Bill of Rights. The Commission is seeking applications from suitably qualified external candidates for the positions below:
POSITION: HUMAN RIGHTS ADVOCACY OFFICER – HRC F (x2) PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
LOCATION: LUSAKA
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To undertake the development and implementation of an advocacy strategy to enlist support from stakeholders on human rights matters.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Human Rights Advocacy Officer and will be responsible for:
- Undertaking effective development and implementation of advocacy programmes to enlist support from stakeholders on human rights matters.
- Undertaking effective establishment and maintenance of partnerships to influence the formulation and implementation of human rights-oriented Laws, policies and programmes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have Full Form V/Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication or its equivalent
- Relevant experience, particularly in practicing journalism and/or advocacy, will be an added advantage.
