HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER
Overall Mission of the Role:
This position will have the primary responsibility of providing expertise regarding Compensation and Benefits Strategies, Policies, and procedures, including functional, technical, and regulatory/compliance, management, and leadership compensation training. The position will have overall responsibility to provide expertise regarding training strategy, policies, and procedures for developing, directing, implementing, and coordinating Learning & Development in the country, across the business unit.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of new theories and methods relative to the area of expertise
- Participate in projects to drive cost and service improvements
- Supervises all country activity regarding compensation & Benefits / Payroll and ensures compliance of the compensation & Benefits and payroll processes with local and legal requirements
- Create and maintain an internal database for all expatriates to provide accurate data
- Conduct internal & external benchmark analysis to propose competitive Reward packages that attract, motivate and retain key people
- Use benchmarks and labor market data to provide the business with analysis and possible options
- Provide guidance and support on the grading method and use evaluation (job description, job evaluation) to ensure that grades remain consistent and ensure internal equity in the business.
- Design and implement at the country level the company’s strategic business goals through Learning and Development (including training, mentoring, and on the job training).
- Define and maintain practice standards relating to Learning and Development with a close link to management requirement.
- Identification and analysis of organizational training and development needs (in close coordination with Plant HR Manager).
- Design and development of learning curriculum based on needs analysis
- Design and agree with Plant HR Manager and Business Managers on the measures of training efficiency; coordinate / implement performance measures with the Professional team
- Ensure the link between training programs and career management: track job descriptions and competency profiles versus training needs, contribute to career path development
- Develop and Manage mentoring programme and lead in transformational initiatives relating to Learning & Development.
- Defines the recruitment strategy: where to recruit, what levels, what profiles and selection criteria (technical skills as well as behavioral profiles)
- Develops the performance management culture within the industrial population and support functions: Annual appraisal, IDPs, Mid-Year Reviews, and Career Interviews
- Coordinates Performance Management activities
- Works with management in addressing performance issues and provides consultative support as required. This may include assisting managers with the development of PIPs.
Experience Required
- Experience managing and leading Compensation Planning organizations
- Experience in supervising a payroll team / a payroll vendor
- Knowledge of the country’s local compensation benefits and payroll regulation
- Keep content knowledge in the area of Compensation Planning
- Experience in International assignments and expatriate best practices
- Has worked with and gained the respect of the senior members of the organization to influence and deliver goals and objectives pertaininabouttion Planning.
- Experience in workforce development Training • Experience in supporting a multiple customers (i.e. Product Lines with different needs).
- Has deep content knowledge in the three areas of workforce Development Training, Career Planning and Leadership development)
- Has leveraged a core team of resources to successfully delivered workforce development strategy . Can participate in organizational alignment efforts to drive cost and service improvements.
Educational Background & Experience
- Minimum; Degree in Human Resource Management or Social Science Degree or related discipline
- At least 5 years working experience in the manufacturing/Mining industry
- Full member of ZIHRM Technical skills
- In-depth knowledge of the technical education
- Good communications skills
- Numerical/computation skills (Proficiency in MS Excel, MS word and other Microsoft packages)
- A good understanding of the HRIS
- Strong understanding of Zambian Labour laws and regulations
