Job Description


PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Acts as an assistant to the HSSE Coordinator that is responsible for ensuring that operations run in line with Health, Safety, security and environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.

MAIN DUTIES

a)      Take safety as a personal responsibility and prevent accident/incidents to achieve Zero harm to people, environment, and equipment.

b)     Assist the HSSE Coordinator with record keeping for HSSE activities on Site and act as proxy when the Coordinator is away.

c)      Follow up on closure for corrective actions from planned inspections, risk assessments, investigations, and other hazard identification.

d)     Report all the incidents/accidents and investigate in accordance with Kalonga accident/incident reporting requirements.

e)     Compile schedule and track monthly task observations for all staff.

f)       Ensure all HSE site meetings including meetings with LMC HSE personnel/managers are tracked and recorded.

g)      Regularly inspect the workplace and enforce ‘stop work authority’ for unsafe acts and conditions.

h)     Coordinates and tracks emergency response drills and conducts regular checks on critical emergency response equipment.

i)       Provide necessary training for everyone so they can meet their health and safety responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Education background

  • On the job training – Two years (2yrs) or more in operations experience
  • Diploma/Certificate in Occupational safety and health environment and any related field

Competencies and experience

  • 2 years’ experience in operations
  • HSSE and operations understanding.
  • People management skills and team player.
  • Driven and action oriented.
  • Driving Skills.
