About Twitti Primary School
Twitti Primary School is a community-focused basic school that provides quality education to children from underprivileged backgrounds. Located in Lilayi, the school is committed to academic excellence, holistic student development, and fostering a nurturing learning environment. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head Teacher to lead the school towards greater success.
Position: Head Teacher.
Contract: Two-year renewable contract (performance-based)
Location: Plot 86, Lilayi Close, Lilayi (Off Kafue Rd,) Lusaka

Preferred Candidate Requisites:
Age: 35-55 years
– Valid Teaching Council Certificate
– Resides within a 10km radius of Twitti Primary School
– Strong management, interpersonal, and teaching skills
– Computer literate, Creative, open-minded, and proactive in leadership
– Possession of a valid driver’s license (Advantageous)
Reporting & Supervision:
Reports to: The School Director
Directly supervises:
– All teaching staff.
– Secretarial/Administrative staff.
– Librarian/Support staff.
– General staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Management
– Participate in recruiting and selecting new teaching and administrative staff.
– Motivate and inspire teaching staff to uphold the school’s mission.
– Provide strategic direction, aligning the school’s vision and mission with daily operations.
– Ensure a safe, inclusive and conducive learning environment.
– Supervise and support teaching and non-teaching staff, promoting professional development and teamwork.
2. Curriculum & Instruction
– Evaluate and improve academic programs, curriculum, and teaching methods.
– Collaborate with the District Education Office to drive educational excellence.
– Oversee curriculum implementation in line with national education standards.
– Monitor and evaluate teaching methodologies to uphold high academic standards.
– Introduce, innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and performance.
3. Student Welfare
– Promote discipline, respect and inclusivity among students.
– Address and resolve student behavioral and academic challenges.
– Engage parents and guardians to support student growth and well-being.
– Recommend and implement administrative and supervisory improvements to enhance student development.
4. Administrative Duties
– Collaborate with the School Director to manage the school’s budget and allocate resources effectively.
– Maintain accurate student records and oversee school documentation.
– Ensure compliance with educational policies and regulatory requirements.
5. Community Engagement
– Build strong relationships with parents and other stakeholders
– Develop initiatives to enhance the school’s reputation and presence in the local community.
– Maintain open and effective communication with staff, students, and parents.
– Organize faculty meetings and work closely with the PTA chairperson.
Qualifications, Experience and Educational Background:
– Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Required).
– Master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Management (added advantage).
– Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
– Prior experience managing a primary school, preferably in a similar community-based setting.
Skills & Competencies:
– Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
– Deep understanding of child development and inclusive education practices.
– Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on educational trends.
