HEAD – SUPPLY CHAIN – 1 POSITION – REPORTING TO FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

1.1  Job Purpose

This position is responsible for managing the company’s supply chain function for inbound and outbound logistics,  ensuring the availability of goods for operations in compliance with Mabiza Resources Limited procurement policies and procedures and managing the company’s inventory by ensuring safe receipt, storage, issuing and accounting for stock according to company policy.

1.2  Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy.
  • Ensure availability of goods and services to meet production schedule.
  • Negotiating the best possible terms on behalf of the company and ensuring the best TOC for the company.
  • Managing all concentrate exports by ensuring the dispatch program is adhered to and submission of exports to management.
  • Ensure customs procedures are adhered to and keep management informed of any changes in customs Regulations.
  • Ensure SOPs are in place for the supply chain and conduct PTOs.
  • Ensuring all company policies, procedures, and the industry’s best practices relating to the supply chain are strictly adhered to.Authorise adjudications of received quotations/proposals and make commercial recommendations.
  • Responsible for supplier onboarding and ensuring local suppliers’ development to enhance the company’s social license with the community.
  • Train, mentor and evaluate supply chain employees to maximize their contributions to the company.
  • Developing and maintaining a team structure that adheres to Mabiza Resources Limited’s organizational framework policy enabling teamwork and personal development while focusing on the achievement of results
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the department.
  • Constantly seek new sources of supply thereby saving costs on behalf of the company and negotiating credit terms with suppliers.
  • Maintaining the procedure for the management of rotables and scrap disposal.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and continual audit of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company requirements for:

i. Accounting records and standards.

ii. Asset protection and internal financial controls.

  • Identifying specific areas for cost improvements and ensuring the development and improvement of the action plan to achieve these gains.
  • Inculcate managerial leadership practices that reflect company values and culture.
  • Maintain high morale among all employees and demonstrate a culture of learning achievement of results, personal accountability and integrity.
  • Lead, manage, and develop human capital to ensure adequate availability of skills within the company and core competencies within the supply chain.
  • Prepare and submit reports on time as required by management.
  • Providing regular operational and contractual reports to enable effective management of the key performance activities in the mine.
  • Seeking General Manager’s approval before committing the operation to contractual arrangements affecting broader work practices, pay rates, or other areas of the operation.
  • Communicating item description supply and specification changes to the inventory section to ensure the stock catalog is correct and up to date.

1.3  Qualifications

  • University Degree. A Master’s degree in Purchasing & Supply will be an advantage.
  • High level of computer skills in Word Excel and ERP
  • Minimum of 10 years experience of which 5 years in middle to senior management.
  • Mining industry or manufacturing experience will be an advantage.
  • Contract management knowledge and experience is a must.
  • Practicing license from the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply, ZIPS.
