Job Description
Type of Employment: Temporary
Period: (3) Three Months
Reporting Line: Director Operations
Purpose of Role
The Zambia Postal Services Corporation Head of Information Technology oversees the development, implementation and use of information technology throughout the Corporation and works closely with IT staff to assess and address user needs.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Strategic IT Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategic IT plans that align with the corporation’s goals and objectives. Identify emerging technologies and trends to formulate effective IT strategies and initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of IT solutions and projects.
- IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of the corporation’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and databases.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage IT staff, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship. Promote a culture of high performance, continuous learning and professional growth within the IT team. Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to enhance team performance.
- Technology Innovation and Integration: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on the corporation’s IT systems and operations. Identify opportunities to leverage technology for process improvement, operational efficiency and customer experience enhancement.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and data protection regulations. Implement security measures and policies to protect the corporation’s IT infrastructure and data.
- Budgeting and Resource Management: Develop and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
- IT Governance and Policies: Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and compliant IT operations. Establish governance frameworks and monitor adherence to policies and standards.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Senior Management, to understand business requirements and align IT initiatives. Communicate IT strategies, plans and progress to stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in ICT decision making position or similar role, preferably in a large organization will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong technical knowledge and expertise in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network management and cybersecurity.
- Experience in managing and leading a team of IT professionals, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- In-depth understanding of IT project management principles and methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, standards and regulatory requirements related to IT operations and data security.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non technical stakeholders.
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
