Graduate Trainees (Accounts)

Job Description:

We are looking for recent graduates to join our team as Graduate Trainees in Accounts. The ideal candidates will gain hands-on experience in accounting and finance, with opportunities for growth within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Record/Book-keeping and Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Generate periodic financial reports for management review.
• Maintain journals and ledgers.
• Assist in preparing year-end reports and audits.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Prepare routine monthly management reports.

3. Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, Zambian tax regulations, and company policies.
• Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with budgeted figures.
• Identify and report financial variances and trends.
• Prepare, file, and pay statutory returns such as VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, PACRA returns, and income tax compliance.
• Provide audit support.

4. Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor daily cash flow.
• Maintain petty cash and cash book.
• Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely manner.
• Manage the company petty cash in accordance with company policy.

5. Reconciliation:

• Perform bank, sales, supplier, customer, vendor, and intercompany reconciliations.

Minimum Required Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA qualification is an added advantage.

Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in Accounting or a related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
• Must be a member of ZICA.
