JOB DESCRIPTION

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit qualified, talented, and ambitious Young Engineering Graduates to undergo a two (2) years intensive graduate programme. This two-year training programme will form the basis and foundation of careers for the selected candidates within the Maintenance Department and Mining Industry, providing practical, hands-on experience and training across the mining fleet. These roles will be embedded in the shop floor maintenance activities, working alongside the team undertaking maintenance activities to provide practical knowledge and skills relating to the maintenance and support of the mining fleet at Lumwana.  This detailed understanding of the equipment will enable candidates to progress into roles across Reliability/Condition Monitoring, Maintenance Dispatch/Fleet Monitoring, Planning and Scheduling and Direct Supervision of Maintenance Execution.

The selected candidates will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures, and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment, and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

To be considered for the Graduate Development Programme, you must meet the following

 requirements:

  • BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a reputable High Learning Institution.
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
  • Must be aged 25 years or below as of 1st June 2023
  • Little or No Experience required.
  • Practical mechanical/electrical knowledge and interesting in troubleshooting and equipment maintenance
  • Ability to Understand Mechanical (pneumatic/hydraulic) and/or Electrical engineering Drawings.
  • Willing to learn all aspects of mining Equipment Maintenance and improve performance of equipment.
  • Be able to show initiative & have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct computer workstation research and suggest pragmatic work solutions to the assigned team.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a shift roster and night shift.
