Play it Forward (PIF) is seeking an individual to join our team of dedicated staff in Zambia. The person will bring their creativity and enthusiasm for engagement to all of our growing supporter base.

Our mission is to empower young Zambians to develop sustainable livelihoods through quality education and health activities. Play it Forward inspires and empowers a whole new generation of young people to take control of their lives. We engage over 1,500 young people every year in a wide range of programmes from health education & HIV testing to literacy, coding, mentoring and support towards higher education and employment. Our support on and off the pitch, ensures that young people emerge from our programmes with new skills to succeed in school, the workforce and in life.

Job Details
Location: Play it Forward Office, Livingstone, Zambia
Salary & Benefits: Competitive
Hours: 37.5 hours a week (full time)
Type: 1 year rolling contract, subject to a 3-month probationary period
Reports to: Country Director (Zambia) and CEO (UK)
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience of using your excellent communication skills to build a wide range of successful relationships and deliver first-rate supporter care, ideally including having worked with volunteers. You will be comfortable working within community and events fundraising and will need to demonstrate your ability to use your own initiative to research and identify opportunities and events. You will be involved in the development of networks and activity to generate funds from communities, individuals and volunteer fundraising groups, whilst ensuring an excellent supporter experience.
Essential skills and experience
Excellent fundraising event planning, organisational skills and event logistics
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Great writing, editing and storytelling skills.
Creative with photography and videography.
Proficient in design and publishing software or desire to learn (Canva, Photoshop etc).
Experience on social media platforms, scheduling posts, running campaigns and events
Experience in email marketing
Effective computer skills and website management
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Communication
Key Deliverable: Effectively communicate our story and manage our supporters.
- Build and deliver on an entertaining and engaging social media content calendar.
- Raise awareness and tell Play it Forward’s story to increase PR/brand awareness to the public.
- Develop key messages, lead on creating and maintaining appropriate and consistent language and terminology across all media. Work closely with other team members to ensure integrated and consistent external communications.
- Write, edit, and distribute new content, including newsletters, website blogs, and social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok).
- Increase the organisation’s profile through maintaining, nurturing and expanding relationships with media, including publications, journalists, sector influencers and other channels.
2. Fundraising
Key Deliverable: The organisation grows and sustains enough income to support itself and the beneficiaries that we work with.
- Coming up with new and innovative ideas for fundraising and raising the organisation profile.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the fundraising strategy.
- Diversify income by engaging with businesses and corporates.
Assess all fundraising events for return on investment (ROI) and growth potential and invest/divest accordingly. - Engagement with donors to deepen their understanding of Play it Forward’s work and create opportunities for them to participate.
3. Events Management
Key Deliverable: Organise fundraising events to engage supporters, raise awareness and donations for our mission.
- Coordinate key tasks and responsibilities in the delivery of events, including managing event invites and RSVPs, and on the day event management.
- Develop and deliver an effective marketing plan for all events.
- Measure and evaluate the impact of all event activity in order to capitalise on opportunities and inform future strategy.
- Manage volunteers and suppliers to a high standard.
- Oversee the maintenance of a communications and events calendar for regular review with the team as part of planning upcoming communications and identifying opportunities.
