Job Description
The Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) Cooperative Agreement supported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) aims at supporting the strengthening of the Institute’s capacity to provide Leadership to the Nation on Health Security through its mandate. ZNPHI seeks to recruit suitably qualified and experienced persons to be appointed in the underlisted positions under this project:
FIELD EPIDEMIOLOGY PROGRAMME ADMINISTRATOR
Reports to:
i) Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) Advanced Coordinator (Functionally)
ii) Head-Human Resource Management and Administration (Administratively)
Location: Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI)
Job Purpose
To undertake the provision of administrative support services in order to facilitate efficient and effective implementation of the Field Epidemiology Programme at ZNPHI
Roles and Responsibilities
● Coordinate the ZFETP budget, finances, expenditures, and all administrative activities (e.g., arrange travel, schedule meetings, order office supplies, create drawdown requests, etc.).
● Support Field Epidemiology Programme residents recruitment activities – advertisement, interviews (logistics & materials)
● Coordinate Field Epidemiology Programme field activities (field site orientation – ToRs, handle books, logistics)
● Support periodic evaluations of residents, mentors, supervisors, and sites
● Evaluation and grading of resident deliverables
● Primary liaison for communicating with alumni, residents, supervisors, mentors
● Support the setting up of roadmap to maintain minimum standards for TEPHINET reaccreditation
● Maintains and keeps track of field equipment
● Support human resource and administration functions of the Zambia National Public Health Institute.
● Timely processing of Human Resource cases under the FETP Programme
● Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisors
Qualifications& Experience
● Full Grade 12 School Certificate with minimum five O level credits including English and Mathematics
● Bachelor’s Degree in Public administration, business Administration/ management or related discipline
● Minimum of 3-years demonstrable experience working in a health – oriented organization Experience of having worked in a health agency will be an added advantage.
● A good understanding of Field Epidemiology Training Programme
● Experience with USG donor funded programs is an advantage
Desired experience
● Experience working in or with a Governmental Agency
● Experience working in the health sector is desirable
● Familiarity with ZNPHI’s role in health security in Zambia
● Experience working with and on Donor funded projects is an added advantage
Knowledge and Skills
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Knowledgeable about payroll management
● Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office
● Capacity in decision-making and problem-solving
