Job Description
Pedrew Investments Limited (PIL) is looking for a mature, resilient, and reliable Farm Manager to manage the day-to-day activities of Pedrew Farms located in 11 Miles Chibombo. S/he will oversee the planning, budgeting, coordinating and procurement of farming inputs. The position also entails being a supervisor for the farm workers. S/he will represent our company in a professional and cost-effective manner to increase our profitability and customer satisfaction. In additional, the role requires someone who is highly alert with issues regarding health and safety requirements at a farm.
Responsibilities
- Day to day management of livestock (Pigs & Chickens) at the farm.
- Ensure the Piggeries and poultry houses are well maintained and not prone to diseases.
- Ensure constant monitoring of the performance of livestock.
- Forward planning to make sure that all orders are met promptly.
- To supervise farm general workers and ensure the operation are profitable.
- Formulation of annual and monthly budgets.
- Maintenance of Proper and accurate records for the activities in the piggery and poultry.
- Oversee the sales and procurement of livestock and farm produce.
- Hands on tasks such as feeding animals, administering vaccines, assisting with pig farrowing and animal castrating.
- To assist with recruiting, training, and supporting farm workers.
- Ensure that work is done is done safely and in time to meet targets and orders.
- Ensure that the farm operations adhere to all the government regulations and health and safety standards.
- Record management of all farm production activities.
- Promptly respond to any emergencies at the farm.
- Make sure the farm operations are profitable and financial targets are met.
- Organizing maintenance and repairs of farm property, equipment, and machinery.
- Must be actively involved in advertising and marketing of farm products.
- Must liaise with the vet as and when needs arises.
Requirements and skills
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- Minimum Diploma in Agriculture/Veterinary or its equivalent
- Minimum relevant experience-3 years
- Computer literate, conversant with Microsoft excel and word.
- Proficient in English language and Nyanja.
- Good communication skills (written and oral).
