COMPANY BRIEF

Kimberly Farm and Winterthorn Farm are part of Mondo Farms Limited, located in Shiyala Village and Mulenje Village, respectively, within Chongwe District.

Our commercial farming operation focuses primarily on horticultural production, alongside the establishment of a long-term commercial tree plantation. We prioritize appropriate land use management and water conservation techniques to mitigate the effects of climate change and land degradation.

As an equal opportunity employer, Mondo Farms Limited is seeking a suitably qualified, motivated, and results-driven candidate for the position of Farm Supervisor.

JOB PURPOSE

The Farm Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the farm, ensuring that all activities align with production targets and quality standards. This role involves supervising farm workers, coordinating tasks, and maintaining efficient production processes. The Farm Supervisor will work closely with the Farm Manager to implement plans and address any operational issues that arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise daily farm operations and coordinate the work of staff to ensure efficient processes and achievement of production goals.
  • Conduct regular inspections of crops to assess health and growth, reporting any concerns to the Farm Manager.
  • Train and mentor farm workers, facilitating their orientation and ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, crop yields, and labor hours, and assist in overall farm production documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate tasks for the farm team on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to optimize workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and protocols among all farm personnel.
  • Implement and monitor biosecurity measures to safeguard against crop diseases and pests, promoting a secure farming environment.
  • Assist in planning and executing seasonal activities such as planting and harvesting, and manage irrigation and soil fertility to enhance crop yields.
  • Support the Farm Manager in maintaining farm equipment, coordinating repairs, and identifying any maintenance issues.
  • Facilitate effective communication between farm workers and the Farm Manager, providing regular updates on progress and challenges.
  • Ensure all farm operations are conducted in a tidy and organized manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting sustainable farming practices

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Minimum Diploma in Agriculture.
  • Two (2) years of relevant farm work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Technical knowledge in all areas of production.
  • Understanding of food production, customer demand, food standards, and sustainability.
  • Ability to monitor and manage water resources effectively.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Capacity to manage a diverse workforce and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Skills in using tools for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and data management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide clear instructions.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours and in various weather conditions.
  • Passionate, innovative, motivated, and self-driven.
