Job Opportunity: Farm Manager
Location: Ndola Rural
Our Client, a Farms and Game Camp is a dynamic and innovative farming and tourism enterprise located in a scenic area in Ndola Rural. The area is surrounded by natural beauty and rich resources. The Farm boasts extensive infrastructure, including six dams with massive water bodies, fishponds, piggeries, chicken runs, feed lots, and a processing plant. In addition to managing cattle and game ranches, we offer opportunities for professional growth in a unique environment.
Purpose of the Job
The Farm Manager will oversee and coordinate all operational and administrative aspects of the farm, excluding the game camp. The role involves strategic planning, budgeting, and effective resource management to ensure the farm’s productivity and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement operational plans for the management of cattle and game ranches, feed lots, fishponds, piggeries, chicken runs, and the processing plant.
Prepare and manage budgets for the farm, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
Monitor the health and productivity of livestock and ensure adherence to best practices in animal husbandry.
Oversee the maintenance of farm infrastructure, equipment, and facilities.
Supervise farm staff, providing leadership, training, and performance management.
Ensure compliance with all agricultural, safety, and environmental regulations.
Coordinate procurement of inputs and manage inventory to support farm operations.
Implement innovative farming techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability.
Qualifications and Skills
A minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture, with a specialization in animal science.
Strong budgeting, planning, and resource management skills.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in agricultural technology and management systems is an added advantage.
Experience
At least 5 years of hands-on experience managing diversified farming operations, including livestock management.
Proven track record in planning, budgeting, and implementing agricultural projects.
Experience in managing and maintaining large-scale farm infrastructure.
