The Civil Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified serving Officers and the general public to fill the vacant position in the Ministry of Tourism.
JOB TITLE: EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

MINISTRY: MINISTRY OF TOURISM
JOB PURPOSE
To oversee operations of Hostels Board of Management in order to provide board and lodging to Civil Servants travelling on duty, the general public and generate revenue.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Permanent Secretary and shall bo responsible for
(a) Coordinating timely, the development and implementation of strategic work and other plans in order to provide an operational framework policy:
(b) Initiating periodically, the development and review of policies in order to align them to the changing environment in the hospitality industry.
(c) Managing timely the undertaking of quality control measures in order to ensure adherence to set standards;
(d) Providing timely secretarial services in order to facilitate the smooth proceeding of board meetings,
(e) Ensuring timely provision of human resources, administrative and services other support services in order to facilitate efficient and effective operations of the Board;
(f) Monitoring and evaluating periodically, the performance of the Board in order to recommend and implement appropriate interventions;
(g) Managing and coordinating timely, preparation and implementation Management of individual and unit work plans in order to monitor and evaluate performance;
(h) Coordinating timely preparation and implementation of the budget in order to ensure efficient allocation and utilisation of resources;
(I) and Managing timely preparation and submission of financial, operational and other reports in order to facilitate informed decision making.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess the following:
(a) AFull Grade Twelve (12yForm 5 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘0’ Level Credits including English Language and Mathematics;
(b) Degree in Hotel Management or related field from a recognized University
(c) A Masters Degree in Hotel Management or related field and/or MBA will be an added advantage;
(d) Ten (10) years working experience of which five (5) years must be at Senior Management level in the Hospitality Industry,
(e) Excellent Organizational, Interpersonal and Communication Skills
(f) Good leadership and team building skills with capacity to deal with Local, National and International agencies;
(g) Traceable record of fundraising, networking and resource mobilization;
(h) Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience, preferably in Hotel Management;
(i) Good Conflict Management and Negotiation Skills;
(j) Computer literate;
(k) Demonstrate the ability to commercialize Hostels Board of Management, and
(l) Demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional Customer Service Satisfaction
MINIMUM AGE
Applicants must not be less than thirty (30) years.
