Job Description


POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC), a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with a mandate of providing promotional, advisory and regulatory support to the government on matters concerning food and nutrition, is a leading institution in the coordination of food and nutrition activities in the country. NFNC now invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Zambian professionals for the position of Executive Director. The successful candidate will report to the Board of the Commission.

Job Purpose

To oversee the development and implementation of the national food and nutrition programme to improve the country nutrition status.

 

 

2. Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the development of food and nutrition guidelines in order to ensure compliance with statutory provisions;
  2. Oversees and coordinates the formulation and implementation of the national food and nutrition programme in order to improve the nutrition status of the nation;
  3. Oversees the clearance of applications for food and nutrition programmes and projects in order to ensure adherence to national priorities;
  4. Oversees the registration of Nutritionists outside the health sector and nutrition groups in the country in order to ensure quality service provision;
  5. Oversees planning and research activities in order to guide implementation of institutional programmes and generate information for decision making;
  6. Oversees compliance monitoring effectively in order to ensure adherence to statutory provisions;
  7. Ensures the implementation of performance management systems effectively in order to improve individual and organizational performance and productivity;
  8. Oversees effective management of human and financial resources, administrative and other support services in order to ensure efficient operations of the institution;
  9. Mobilize resources for food and nutrition policy implementation in the country

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Grade twelve (12) school certificate or equivalent;

2. Master of Science degree in food and nutrition or equivalent recognized by the Zambia Qualifications Authority:

3. Formal qualifications in either management or business studies is an added advantage;

EXPERIENCE

1. Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, five (5) of which should be
at the senior management level;

2. Must have working experience in a government organization;

3. Able to write technical and analytical reports;

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The appointment will be on a three-year contract with an option for renewal based on performance. A competitive remuneration package commensurate with the seniority of the position will be offered to the successful candidate;
