Job Description


Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) is a statutory body established in 1970 under the Nurses and Midwives Act No. 55 of 1970 with an express mandate to regulate nursing and midwifery training, education and practice. The Act was repealed and replaced by the Nurses & Midwives Act No. 31 of 1997 and Nurses & Midwives Act No. 10 of 2019, which redefined the functions of the Council and expanded the scope of practice for nurses and midwives.

The Council is therefore, inviting applications from highly motivated, result oriented, qualified and experienced persons to fill the positions of:

JOB DETAILS:
GRADE: NMCZ4

JOB PURPOSE:
To undertake the setting, administration and marking of competence examinations for nurses and midwives in order to facilitate their certification.

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
a) Undertakes effectively the development of examination and marking schedules in order to the certification of nurses and midwives;
b) Supervises and undertakes effectively the assessment of candidates in order to determine their eligibility to sit for examinations;
c) Undertakes periodically the setting of examinations and preparation of scripts in order to facilitate the examination of nursing and midwifery candidates;
d) Undertakes timely the dispatch of examination scripts to centers in order to facilitate the conduct of examinations;
e) Undertakes timely the marking and validation of examination scripts and compilation of results in order to facilitate their publication;
f) Undertakes effectively the issuance of examination transcripts in order to provide candidates with record of results;
g) Undertakes periodically research on topical and emerging issues in order to generate information for development of appropriate interventions;
h) Undertakes effectively the provision of administrative and logistical support services in order to facilitate the conduct of exams;
i) Undertakes effectively the development of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) in order to enhance performance.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Examination Specialist.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

a) Minimum Primary/Secondary Education

Full Form Vor Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.

b) Minimum Qualifications

Vocational/Professional

Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent

c) Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience

1 year

d) Communication Skills

e) Written Skills

Able to write technical and analytical reports

f) Oral Skills

Able to communicate effectively in English

g) Other Skills/Attributes
