Job Description


Environmental Health Coordinator Ref No. EH/TB/08/12/22

Reports to Deputy Chief of Party. This position will be responsible for coordinating environmental mitigation and monitoring activities under TBLON project In collaboration with provincial environmental health officers.

Main duties

  • Is subject expert and advises the project on environmental health and safety
  • In collaboration with provincial environmental health officers, regularly reviews and updates project environmental mitigation and monitoring plan (EMMP) as needed
  • Works closely with the district structures, support TB chest clinics to conduct TB infection control assessments, planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Coordinates technical and logistical support for implementation of integrated waste management across supported provinces
  • Undertakes periodic implementation of capacity building activities, including mentorships and training, on infection control and integrated waste management
  • In close collaboration with the Ministry of Health staff, monitors and valuates adherence to environmental standards and facilitate implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Works collaboratively with other partners supporting environmental mitigation and monitoring activities.
  • Leads the process of procurement planning for the EMMP supplies
  • Participates in the development of all policies and frameworks related to environmental health and safety.
  • Works closely with the public private mix coordinator to support private companies in development of workplace policies for TB Identify research gaps and ideas related to environmental health and safety under TBLON
  • Updates DCOP on the progress of activities in the project environmental mitigation and monitoring plan

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, public health or other relevant qualifications.
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • Experience in conducting/involvement in research is an added advantage
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, MS word and MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • At least three (6) years relevant experience
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
