ABOUT THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION
The Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) is a National Human Rights Institution established under Article 230 of the 1991 Constitution of Zambia. The Commission has the constitutional mandate to uphold and protect the Bill of Rights. The Commission is seeking applications from suitably qualified external candidates for the position below:
POSITION: EDUCATION AND TRAINING OFFICER – HRC F (x1) PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
LOCATION: LUSAKA
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To undertake the delivery of civic education programmes on human rights and freedoms to empower rightsholders to claim their rights and duty bearers to fulfil their obligations.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Education and Training Officer and will be responsible for:
- Undertakes effectively the delivery of civic education programmes on human rights and freedoms to raise awareness and empower rightsholders to claim their rights.
- Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of capacity-building programmes for duty bearers to enable them to meet their human rights obligations.
- Undertakes effectively the mainstreaming of human rights in training and education curricula to guide the teaching and learning of human rights.
- Undertakes effectively the development of human rights information, education and communication materials to disseminate information and raise awareness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have Full Form V/Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication or its equivalent or any Social Science
- Relevant experience in media freedom advocacy or capacity-building will be an added advantage.
