Position reports to:                    Mechanical Supervisor

Grade:                                            G 8

Direct reports:                             None

Purpose

Responsible for ensuring that all vehicles/lifting equipment like cranes, forklifts, and light trucks/vehicles are operated, well looked after, and that there are kept in good condition for usage. Equipment/items are moved to the right destinations and storage yards in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures, and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment, and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

•Carrying out routine mobile equipment & vehicle check-ups and completion of vehicle check log books

•Ensuring that the equipment/vehicle being used is in a clean and roadworthy condition

•Maintaining a log book of trips and operations •Accurately loading and unloading of trucks with materials by using a folk lift •Maintain the integrity of goods through proper handling and storage.

•Control and ensure safe operation of the Equipment/vehicles.

•Stack and retrieve goods at the specified locations in a safe manner.

•Keep the Equipment/vehicles clean inside and outside.

•Ensuring loads are correctly placed and secure

•Perform such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications:

•Minimum Grade 12 Certificate

•Minimum SADC Driver’s license class C

•Certificate in Mobile crane operations

•Experience in Mobile crane, forklifts, low bed and Tractor driving/operation     would be an added advantage

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a qualified Multi-Purpose Driver
