NUTRI-AID TRUST (NAT) Zambia

Nutri- Aid Trust (NAT) is a Non Profit Organisation founded in 2007 in Zambia that aims at rendering expertise in Agri-Business Development, Agriculture and Food systems, Climate change and Value Chain development interventions for Small scale farmers in Zambia. In this Project, Nutri-AID Trust is partnered with Oxfam in implementing ‘the Improvement of the Socio-Economic Status of Women, Youth and Marginalised Groups Poject’ under the Ireland’s Civil Society Partnership (ICSP) programme in Mongu, Kaoma, Namwala  and Gwembe Districts.

Job Summary

The District Facilitators will work in a dynamic team on our objective towards improving the social economic status of women, youths and the marginalized through the Agriculture and Food systems. The job demands setting up and managing Female-led Farmer Field Schools (FFS) in promoting the Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) towards enhancing food security among small holder farmers (SHFs). The District Facilitators must be able to manage partnerships in the districts of operation. The District Facilitators will work under the direct supervision of the Programs Manager and will have their office base in the districts of operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Deliver agricultural extension services as a master trainer to the female-led Farmer Field Schools (FFS) , train the female led farmer field schools in Climate Smart Agricultural Practices such as Conservation Agriculture and Agroforestry.

2.      Conduct visits to FFS members to ensure replication of lessons learnt at FFSs and adoption of the CSA practices

3.     Establish and manage partnerships with line government ministries and Civil Society Organizations in the district.

4.     Support the FFSs with irrigation systems initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change.

5.     Assist in participatory processes to develop village-based sustainable livelihoods, savings and credit schemes as well as linkage of sustainable FFS to markets.

6.     Train and co ordinate the activities of female led farmer field school community champions

7.     Mapping of farmer field schools on GPS

8.     Prepare field activity progress reports as requested by the Programs Manager

9.     Communicate directly with the Program Manager amongst others regarding project activities.

Candidate Profile

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Minimum a Diploma in Agriculture, Agroforestry or related field, degree will be an added advantage
  • Language: Fluent in English (both speaking and writing) and local language
  • Work experience: not less than 3 years of relevant work experience in the agricultural sector
  • Excellent coordination, training and communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of small-scale agribusiness, micro-crediting, agroforestry and horticulture
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – comfortable working in the field with local communities
  • Able to ride and in possession of class A rider’s license
  • Should have basic Data collection, Entry and  Analyses abilities
  • Report writing skills
  • Record keeping skills
  • Basic Computer skills (Word Processing, Excel Power Point etc

  • Be willing to relocate and live in designated District
  • Be willing to work overtime, and during holidays if need arises
  • Acceptable conduct and respectful
  • Sober mindedness

Terms & Conditions

  • Position: Full-time employee, 5 or 6 days per week.
  • Base: Gwembe, Namwala, Kaoma or Mongu district
  • Start date: As soon as possible, preferably by 15/06/2023
