Job Description


We are looking for a skilled and experienced Distribution Services Supervisor to join our dynamic and growing organization. The Distribution Services Supervisor will play a crucial role in cargo distribution function within Zambia. This role combines elements of coordination, transportation management, and commercial operations to ensure the smooth flow of goods and services through local road networks.

Key Functions and responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all road freight operations follow local, state, and national regulations governing transportation, including vehicle standards, weight limits, and driver qualifications.
  • Commercial Operations: Managing commercial activities related to road freight transportation, including pricing, billing, invoicing, and contract negotiations with carriers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to find trends, opportunities, and threats in the industry. Gather and analyze data on customer preferences, market demand, and competitor strategies to make informed business decisions.
  • Route Planning and Optimization: Collaborating and coordinating with operations team to optimize road freight routes, travel times to ensure efficient delivery of goods and services.
  • Customer Service: Serving as a point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring that freight deliveries meet customer expectations about timeliness, accuracy, and condition.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing data on road freight operations, such as transportation costs, delivery times, and vehicle performance, to find trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern. Generating reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Emergency Response and Incident Management: Coordinating responses to emergencies and incidents affecting road freight operations, such as accidents, natural disasters, or road closures, to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of personnel and cargo.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with government agencies, industry associations, transportation companies, and other stakeholders to address shared challenges, develop industry standards, and promote best practices in road freight transportation and commercial operations.
