Job Description


The National Legal Aid Clinic for Women (NLACW) is a Project of the Law Association of Zambia which was established to provide affordable legal representation to women and children from marginalized social sectors.  The overall objective of the NLACW is to empower women by facilitating their access to legal rights by way of legal representation, counselling, legal and human rights education as a distinct but integral part of the women’s movement.

NLACW seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced professional in the following vacancy:

Job Title:    Deputy Executive Director

Station:       Lusaka

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate with a Minimum of Five (5) ‘O’ Levels including English and Mathematics
  • A Law Degree or degree in Social Sciences from a recognized University
  • Project Management and Monitoring and Evaluation qualification are essential.
  • Post graduate qualification in gender or women’s rights would be an added advantage.
  • 5 years’ relevant experience in programme/project management
  • Demonstrate skill in fundraising and proposal writing
  • Demonstrate experience in strategic planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, team building skills and ability to work under pressure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with staff to ensure they are provided with appropriate support systems in daily operations to achieve the objectives of NLACW
  • Monitor progress of the programme and make necessary adjustments based on good practices, lessons learnt, and continuous feedback
  • Assist the Executive Director in the development of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures for NLACW operations
  • Oversee development and implementation of all components of the programme
  • Create programme timelines/workplans, track and create reports on outcomes of all programmes and maintain records
  • Build and leverage new and existing partnerships with donors, government and like-minded CSOs to share good / best practices
  • Monitoring the financial plans and expenditures of the all programs, ensuring compliance with approved donor budgets in line with funding agreements
  • Spearhead preparation of Reports to the Board, Donors and Stakeholders
  • Oversee and supervise programme staff in Lusaka, Ndola and Livingstone offices
  • Work closely with staff to ensure they are provided with appropriate support systems in daily operations to achieve the objectives of NLAC
  • Assist the Executive Director in the development of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures for NLACW operations.
