Job Description
Our client is looking for a Construction/Site Supervisor to oversee the construction of their new factory in Lusaka. This role will be pivotal in managing both the pre-construction and construction phases, coordinating with key stakeholders such as ZEMA, Lusaka South MFEZ, architects, MEP consultants, and structural engineers. The successful candidate will ensure that all necessary approvals are secured and the project progresses smoothly from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction Phase:
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and MEP consultants to finalize designs and specifications.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from regulatory bodies, including environmental agencies and local authorities.
- Develop strong relationships with consultants to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
Construction Phase:
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project stays on schedule, within budget, and meets quality standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for the client, contractor, and consultants on all site-related matters.
- Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring health and safety regulations are met and providing progress reports to stakeholders.
Liaison and Coordination:
- Manage communication between the client, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate with authorities to resolve issues related to permits, inspections, or approvals.
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure seamless coordination between design and construction phases.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years as a Site Supervisor or similar role, with a strong background in industrial construction projects.
- A well-established network of contacts with architects, engineers, MEP consultants, and other professionals in Zambia.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Professional certification with the National Council of Construction or similar regulatory bodies is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction processes, industrial project management, and Zambian building codes.
- Proficiency in reading architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Ability to manage budgets, estimate costs, and ensure projects are completed within financial parameters.
Language Skills:
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
Reporting: The Construction/Site Supervisor will report directly to the Managing Director and Group CFO.
