Computer Teacher (1)
Position Summary
As Computer Teacher contribute to transformation in the lives of children at Kids Alive Academy in Mongu. Help learners develop their digital literacy skills, including how to use a keyboard and mouse effectively and how to navigate. He or She will impart computer skills in line with the grade based Zambian education curriculum on computer education. You will ensure adherence health and safety, child protection in pursuit of the child protection and safeguarding standards and protocols. As a Teacher, make a positive contribution towards the organization’s Christian ethos and witness through modeling of Christ centered character.
Position Responsibilities but not limited to;
1. To conduct day – to -day academic activities and assess progress of all the learners in the school and endeavor to help children achieve to the best of his or her ability according to the Ministry of Education Curriculum
2. To respond to specific educational, emotional, and behavioral needs of individual learners.
3. To contribute to the maintenance of a high standard of discipline in the school.
4. To keep appropriate records of learner’s progress
5. Planning lessons and activities that facilitate learners’ acquisition of basic and advanced computer knowledge and skills.
6. Engage with parents on performance of the learner.
7. Set up safeguards against access to inappropriate sites and downloads
8. Ensure that the computer laboratory remains well secured and ventilated, free from food and drink at all times.
9. Downloading important and appropriate software updates and maintaining hardware.
10. Creatively teach and sensitize learners on cyber bullying and other harmful spaces that can hinder their educational rights.
11. Ensure installation of firewalls and access security such as passwords to avoid unauthorized access by children.
12. Undertake any reasonable additional responsibilities at the request for the supervisor, school management or the Kids Alive management through the supervisor
e) Spiritual growth among children and staff
1. Provide practical and visible spiritual leadership and mentorship to fellow staff and Learners.
2. Facilitate inspiration and the hope centered on Christ to children under Kids Alive programing.
3. Ensure facilitation of Christ based trauma informed care for Children entrusted in your care.
4. Report any child protection incident
Essential Skills
- Strong Christian with unquestionable religious disposition.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical thought processes with superb attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to teach in English and Lozi
- Must be able to speak Lozi and any other local languages fluently
- Strong teaching skills and abilities with ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize projects, and carry them through to completion.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude, high level of self-motivation.
- Ability to teach learners how to read.
- Ability to prepare and be creative in displaying learner friendly classroom.
- Ability to work in a team
- Computer teachers must have an extensive knowledge of computer technology. They need to know everything from how computers work internally to which operating system is best suited for different tasks.
Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma in Primary school teaching or teaching methodology
- Minimum Certificate in information Technology or a related field
- Prior experience as a Computer Teacher.
- Continuous Professional development (CPD) certifications/certificate relating to the position or Early Childhood Education trainings is added advantage
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of teaching methods and legal educational procedures is added advantage to ensure compliance.
- Holder of a valid practicing license
- Understanding and appreciation of the challenges of working in an international organization or NGO/Private school, respecting, and understanding the diversity of people and work cultures
- Demonstrated passionate about fostering computer literacy and academic excellence
