VACANCY: CIVIL ENGINEER – QUALITY CONTROL

African Panorama Investment Group Limited is a comprehensive group corporation with construction installation, real estate development, and overseas investment as its primary businesses and property management, garden greening, and project ornamentation as its supporting businesses. Our organization is looking for a self-motivated Civil Engineer for Quality Control.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Senior Supervisor, Building and Infrastructure will oversee construction, supervision of contractors, and ensuring timely, quality, to specification work and finishes of the buildings and infrastructure projects.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• Oversee building contractors during construction and maintenance projects to ensure site requirements are met within safety and quality standards Setup a certification system for construction quality control.
• Setup a production management tracking and reporting system.
• Prepares and quantifies detailed chronological lists of project activities and estimates the costs for implementing all in-house construction projects.
• Carries out frequent house inspections during project implementation to ensure compliance to design drawings and bill items
• Ensure workplace safety and environmental standards of the company are adhered to.
• Design, implement and Maintain inspection and quality control systems, in order to maintain contractual obligations
• Co-ordinate building and construction contractors
• Generate scopes of works and Bill of Quantities
• Carry out cost analysis on projects
• Amends working drawings to suit as built at completion of all in-house construction projects
• Performs any other duties as delegated by superiors.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple teams, coordinate with contractors, and oversee the construction process to ensure timely completion.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Ensuring that materials, processes, and final outputs meet the required quality standards. This includes regular inspections, testing of materials, and adherence to design specifications.
Structural Analysis: Proficiency in assessing the integrity and stability of structures under various loads and conditions.
Software Proficiency: Knowledge of software like AutoCAD, Revit, and other construction management tools.
Safety Management: Ensuring all safety protocols are in place and followed by all site workers to prevent accidents and injuries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Supervision: Daily oversight of the construction site to ensure work is carried out as per plans and specifications.
Quality Control: Regular inspections and quality checks on materials, construction techniques, and finished work.
Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of the construction process, including material usage, labor costs, and any changes to the original plans.
Problem-Solving: Quickly identifying and resolving any issues that arise during construction to avoid delays.
Coordination: Working closely with architects, designers, contractors, and other engineers to ensure project goals are met.

SOFT SKILLS:

Communication: Strong communication skills for effective coordination between different teams and stakeholders.
Leadership: Ability to lead a team of workers and junior engineers, providing guidance and ensuring high standards.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to catch and address any issues that could affect the quality or safety of the construction.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate
• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Degree in Construction Management or its Equivalent.
• Five years’ experience
• EIZ valid practicing license
• Construction management of housing construction project.
• Able to supervise site survey and setting out for a number of houses
• Able to work with auto CAD
