Opportunity:
Abt Associates is hiring for the anticipated Zambia Integrated HIV and Health Project (ZIHA) which will be an approximately $100 million activity. ZIHA will work in Copperbelt, North Western, and Central provinces to provide comprehensive HIV prevention, care, treatment, and support services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and will also integrate support for family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH) and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) services.
The Chief of Party is responsible for the overall project performance, including management, planning, implementation, and monitoring. of the activity. She/he also sets the vision and strategic direction of the project to achieve program objectives and to meet expected outcomes.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Provides strategic direction and technical leadership to produce project results;
- Serves as the project’s key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners/stakeholders;
- Provides leadership and technical support specifically for project staff and subcontractors;
- Supervises the project’s two Deputy Chief of Parties, the Finance and Administration Director, and the MEL Director
- Provides technical oversight and guidance to ensure a focus on core results, achievements of annual work plan and targets, and timely/effective implementation;
- Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision;
- Monitors the progress and pace of project implementation, assuring that the full potential of the program is realized through the promotion of high quality work and internal control;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing, or related field;
- A degree in Medicine or a Doctoral Degree in a related field is preferred;
- Minimum of 15 years of experience working in the health sector and a track record of measurable success managing high-paced, large, and challenging programs of similar size and complexity;
- Experience managing a USAID, PEPFAR or other US government funded program is required;
- Demonstrated ability in monitoring and evaluating programs;
- Demonstrated ability to perform at a senior policy level;
- Demonstrated ability to lead, guide, and supervise teams of similar size with a similar scope of work;
- Experience working in Zambia preferred; Zambian Nationals are preferable
- Experience working on HIV or RMNCH programs required;
Strong oral and written communication skills in English is required
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree + Fifteen years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or PhD + Ten years of relevant experience
