Job Description


Silondwa Safaris Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public for the following vacant positions:-

1. CHEF

Purpose

To plan, direct and supervise the preparation of foods in order to ensure meals are prepared in a palatable and timely manner.

Main duties

a) Directs the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of salads, soups, fish, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foods.
b) Plan menus and ensure the quality of meals as well as checking the freshness of food and ingredients.
c) Develops recipes and determines how to present dishes and price menu items
d) Reads menu to estimate food requirements and orders food from supplier or procures food from storage.
e) Updates records and accounts.
f) Supervises and participates in cooking and baking and the preparation of various foods.
g) Keeps a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen to prevent disease outbreak and injuries.

Education & Knowledge

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma in Food Production/General Hospitality
  • 3 years work experience in Hotel Industry
  • Vast knowledge in preparation of hot foods & pastry

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Kitchen skills
  • Food preparation skills
  • Knowledge of nutrition
  • Attention to detail
  • Creativity
  • A high level of discipline.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.

2. BARMAN/BARTENDER

Purpose

To prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as required by customers.

Main Duties

1) Prepares alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons
2) Interacts with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks
3) Assesses customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
4) Mixes ingredients to prepare cocktails
5) Plans and presents bar menu
6) Restocks and replenishes bar inventory and supplies
7) Stays guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
8) Complies with all food and beverage regulations

Requirements and skills

  • Grade 12
  • Proven working experience as a Bartender
  • Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean
