Yalelo Ltd is a fast-growing aquaculture business which farms Tilapia bream on Lake Kariba in Siavonga and distributes them to Lusaka and the rest of Zambia. The company’s fast growth and dynamic team contribute to a very exciting workplace. We are now seeking to employ local people to fill the positions of;
1.Automotive Mechanic (01)
Automotive Mechanic performs major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of vehicles and other automotive equipment. He/she leads and coordinates teams of mechanics and makes sure repairs are completed in a timely manner. Other duties include overseeing subordinates, inspecting work to make sure standards have been met, ordering mechanical parts, using diagnostic equipment, providing support and advice with repairs, conducting road tests, and maintaining repair equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans and schedules work activities for the team.
- Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records.
- Inspects work performed by Automotive Mechanics to ensure shop standards have been met.
- Requisitions parts, computes work orders, and prepares service records and reports as required.
- Overhauls and repairs engines and transmissions on gas and diesel equipment.
- Performs tune-ups on vehicles.
- Overhauls, repairs, and/or replaces other mechanical parts such as steering and brake systems.
- Rebuild, replace, or repair major vehicle components, assemblies, and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc.
- Replaces shock absorbers, checks, and balances wheels, and checks for proper tire alignment.
- Performs diversified electrical work on all automotive and related equipment such as servicing, installing batteries and terminals, repairing, and adjusting lights, repairing generators and starters.
- Uses diagnostic equipment as an aid in locating vehicle defects.
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.
- Troubleshoots and repairs or replaces digital electronic components and computers.
- Fabricates and/or reconstructs equipment by using gas, arc, MIG or TIG welding methods.
- Check and repair electrical and cooling systems and install heaters and similar accessories.
- Performs emission control repair, replacement, and testing on all required vehicles.
- Road tests vehicles to locate operational defects prior to returning to active use.
- Overhauls, repairs, and maintains heavy equipment as required, which may include tractors, crawlers, and the like.
- Overhauls, repairs, and maintains cranes, marinized engines, outboard engines.
Knowledge:
- In-depth Knowledge of Vehicle Diagnostic Equipment and Mechanical Systems
- Ability to work effectively and communicate with superiors and customers.
- Strong Auto Mechanical Background
- Knowledge of tools, equipment and procedures used in the general vehicle repairs, and maintenance of automotive equipment.
- Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair
- In-depth knowledge of principles of internal combustion engines
- Advanced knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance and repair.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
- Makes arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
- Knowledge in the diagnosis and repair of automotive, heavy equipment, or farm equipment
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
- Diploma or better in Automotive Mechanics
- Valid Class C Driver’s License
- 3 Years of Automotive Mechanic work experience. This may include an apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience in Automotive Equipment, Maintenance and Repair
- Experience working in an FMCG Industry is an added advantage.
