Background

Jacana supports small Zambian entrepreneurs in realizing their plans to grow (see: www.jacana.help).

Jacana is establishing a Zambian wide supply chain for affordable portable solar pumps for farmers. Currently these pumps are sold at K4,500. The pumps are light weight, have dry-run, over- and under-voltage protection and come with 2x80W solar panels, cable and pipe (see: http://www.portablesolarpumps.com).

Jacana is looking for an assistant project manager for this project.

Position description

As assistant project manager you will be responsible for communication with involved organisations like distributors, NGOs and shopkeepers.

The project includes the development, testing and fine-tuning of the self-supply app (see https://self-supply.com). This software helps to streamline the distribution of products like but not limited to solar pumps, provides evidence to involved NGOs and stimulates self-supply. You will be playing an important role in this.

The demand for these pumps does not stop at the Zambian border; you might be requested to travel abroad.

Qualifications

·      School certificate with at least five-year work experience (no school leavers).

·      Candidate must have a network in Zambian agricultural and/or water sector.

·      Strong spoken and written communication skills in local language and English.

·      ICT skills a must: Microsoft Word, Excel etc.

·      You are flexible, willing to learn and able to work in a small team.

·      You can work independently.

·      Motor and car drivers’ license.
